If you are disgusted by your old, run-down, outdated kitchen, then you’re not alone! A local customer was in the same situation, and just could no longer stand the dilapidated state of his kitchen. He knew that something had to change.
“I bought the house two-years ago, and the old kitchen was 1980’s atrocious. It had oak cabinets, laminate counter tops, and a tile floor that created a small step from the dining room into the kitchen. I’m assuming that the previous remodel took out the original wall between the kitchen and dining room, but they hung cabinets from the ceiling that separated the two rooms. You couldn’t see into the dining room from the kitchen, and just could see the back of the cabinets from the dining room. It was bad. My goal was just to create a more open floor plan, and make the kitchen look newer, cleaner.” – customer
After having originally worked with another kitchen design company, the customer was not satisfied with what he had seen. So on the recommendation of several friends, he decided to visit our Cabinet Discounters Olney showroom and work with designer Claudia Gillespie.
“I actually started out at another kitchen showroom and had some plans drawn up. I just wasn’t thrilled with the kitchen design. Two friends each recommended Cabinet Discounters — one remodeled his kitchen using the store in Columbia (Cabinet Discounters did the complete remodel of his kitchen), and another bought his cabinets from the store in Gaithersburg (he had a contractor remodeling his kitchen and the contractor installed the cabinets). So, I went to the nearest store to see their showroom, and started working with Claudia. We drew an initial set of plans for the kitchen, and she was able to do more customizing with their lines of cabinets (adding two inches here, adding drawers here, making this cabinet shorter to fit below a window). I was ‘in.'” – customer
“Claudia was a saint! I originally started out with cherry cabinets and black granite counter tops. I changed my mind … a lot. I did start with the Brighton line of cabinets; it was the top line that Cabinet Discounters offered, and I knew that I didn’t want to go through another kitchen remodel for decades. I worked with Claudia over several weeks finalizing the plans. And, I even made a couple of last-minute changes after the order was placed. She was so pleasant, patient and helpful throughout. Claudia also helped me with my bathroom vanity and counter. Again, Claudia was a saint working with me on the bathroom, too.” – customer
“I’m very pleased … it’s actually too nice to use. I took out the overhead cabinets between kitchen/dining room and was really afraid that I wasn’t going to have enough storage. The pantry cabinet more than makes up for what I lost, and the kitchen is so open now. It looks great, and it’s much more functional and organized. It’s just a nice area to hang out in, plus I can work in the kitchen and watch TV in the living room, or just socialize with friends that are in the living room and dining room.” – customer
