“I bought the house two-years ago, and the old kitchen was 1980’s atrocious. It had oak cabinets, laminate counter tops, and a tile floor that created a small step from the dining room into the kitchen. I’m assuming that the previous remodel took out the original wall between the kitchen and dining room, but they hung cabinets from the ceiling that separated the two rooms. You couldn’t see into the dining room from the kitchen, and just could see the back of the cabinets from the dining room. It was bad. My goal was just to create a more open floor plan, and make the kitchen look newer, cleaner.” – customer
After having originally worked with another kitchen design company, the customer was not satisfied with what he had seen. So on the recommendation of several friends, he decided to visit our Cabinet Discounters Olney showroom and work with designer Claudia Gillespie.
“I actually started out at another kitchen showroom and had some plans drawn up. I just wasn’t thrilled with the kitchen design. Two friends each recommended Cabinet Discounters — one remodeled his kitchen using the store in Columbia (Cabinet Discounters did the complete remodel of his kitchen), and another bought his cabinets from the store in Gaithersburg (he had a contractor remodeling his kitchen and the contractor installed the cabinets). So, I went to the nearest store to see their showroom, and started working with Claudia. We drew an initial set of plans for the kitchen, and she was able to do more customizing with their lines of cabinets (adding two inches here, adding drawers here, making this cabinet shorter to fit below a window). Working with Claudia, the customer selected Brighton Cabinetry with Shaker doors and Maple White paint. The countertops are Pebble quartz from Caesarstone with waterfall edge.
