“We had an unfortunate event where a tree fell on our screened porch and kitchen. Although we had not intended to change any of the layout of our kitchen, the need to remodel opened our eyes to possibilities for improving the design and view we had. We decided to enhance the view with a “wall of glass” towards our water view, and took down all the walls in the main living areas creating a great room where we could design anything we wanted without the restrictions of walls.”
Getting ready to embark on their project, the family decided to work with the Cabinet Discounters showroom in Annapolis.

Working along with Victoria, the family selected Brighton Cabinetry with Cascade door style. The perimeter cabinets are Maple Misty, and the islands are Maple Slate. The kitchen countertops are Viatera Soprano quartz, and the wet bar is done with Viatera Carbo Brushed quartz.
“We are very pleased with our newly designed space and look forward to enjoying our home for many years to come.”
The family is also now able to host gatherings and freely move throughout the space without getting in each others ways.
“We love our new great room and have had several opportunities to host gatherings- great and small! Everyone loves the open design that allows for lots of people to pitch in around the island creating dishes without getting in anyone else’s way. We have plenty of space for buffets- and lots of room for people to gather at the end of the island and chat over coffee or a glass of wine. We have plenty of cabinet space for all the dishes I entertain with. We recently hosted a family crab feast with 30 people and everyone had a place to stand or sit!”
