After living in their home for 19 years, these homeowners decided it was time to update a kitchen that they felt was ready for a change. They came to Cabinet Discounters after hearing about the company through radio advertising and worked with designer Wendy Ames from our Mt. Airy, MD showroom to plan their new space.
For the cabinetry, Wendy helped the homeowners select Brighton Cabinetry with the Bryant door style in Hickory Gunpowder. The hickory provides plenty of natural variation throughout the kitchen, with the Gunpowder finish giving the wood a more muted tone. Dark hardware was used throughout and provides some contrast against the cabinetry. The cabinets also extend nearly to the ceiling in several areas, adding storage while making use of the available wall space.
The kitchen features Vicostone Tyrol quartz countertops, which provide a lighter surface against the hickory cabinets. The layout includes two separate sink areas, with one in a coffee station, along with plenty of drawer and cabinet storage around the cooking and prep areas. A green tile backsplash adds some color to the room and runs behind both the range and main sink area. Stainless steel appliances round out the space.
Function was an important part of the remodel as well. The new layout provides the homeowners with several areas for food preparation and additional storage, while keeping the major appliances and work areas within easy reach. That has also made a difference when family visits. The homeowners said that while they haven’t hosted any large events, the remodeled kitchen makes it easier to have their two adult children, their spouses and two grandchildren over.
