Kitchen Remodeling Project Featuring Two-Tone White and Blue Cabinets

At some point, a kitchen stops working the way it should. Layouts feel tight, storage is limited, and finishes begin to show their age. That was the case with this local family. The goal of the remodel was straightforward: open up the space, improve functionality, and create a kitchen that feels current without losing its connection to the rest of the house.

Designed by Cabinet Discounters out of our Annapolis, MD showroom by Meg O’Neill, this project centers around Brighton Cabinetry in the Cascade door style. The perimeter cabinetry is finished in Maple Misty, while the bar area and select accent areas feature Maple Cadet, adding contrast without overwhelming the space. The simple profile of the Cascade door keeps the look clean and adaptable.

The layout was reworked to improve flow and maximize usable workspace. A peninsula provides seating for everyday meals and casual gatherings, while still maintaining clear pathways between the sink, range, and refrigerator. The two-tone cabinetry helps define the different zones of the kitchen without visually breaking up the room.

Along the main wall, a custom hood is wrapped in tile to blend seamlessly with the white subway backsplash. Brass accents, including cabinet hardware and open shelving brackets, introduce warmth and tie together the finishes. The farmhouse sink centered beneath the window anchors the workspace and brings in natural light.

Additional storage was thoughtfully integrated throughout the design. Metal mesh upper cabinets add visual interest and lighten the wall of cabinetry near the ovens, while tall pantry cabinetry create a built-in look around the refrigerator panels. While not providing any cabinetry, the island offers extra prep surface and open shelving below for accessible storage and display.

Overall, this remodel reflects a balanced approach: updated but not overdone. With improved function, added storage, and a clean two-tone palette, the kitchen now better supports everyday living while fitting comfortably within the home’s character.
