This week’s featured project comes from the Cabinet Discounters showroom in Mt. Airy, MD and was designed by our designer Wendy Ames. The goal was to create a laundry room that was more organized and functional while making better use of the available wall space. Cabinet Discounters also completed the installation, providing the homeowner with a finished space that is both practical and easy to maintain.
Century Cabinetry was selected for the project, featuring Annandale doors in White. Full-height pantry cabinets on the left side of the room provide storage for cleaning supplies, household items, and other necessities that would otherwise take up valuable floor space. Additional wall cabinets above the sink and washer help maximize storage without making the room feel crowded. A hanging rod installed between the upper cabinets adds a convenient place to air dry clothing or hang garments as they come out of the dryer.
The laundry sink serves as another functional feature of the room. A compact base cabinet supports a stainless steel sink topped with Mona Lisa leathered granite, giving the homeowner a durable work surface for hand washing, treating stains, or other household tasks. The leathered finish adds texture while holding up well in a space that sees regular use.
The room is finished with a patterned tile floor that contrasts with the white cabinetry and light gray walls, adding some visual interest without overwhelming the space. Crown molding on the upper cabinets gives the built-ins a finished appearance, helping the cabinetry feel like part of the home rather than a utility room addition.
By combining ample storage, durable materials, and a layout that keeps everyday tasks in mind, this project demonstrates how a laundry room can become a more efficient part of the home. The result is a space that offers improved organization while remaining clean, simple, and functional.
