This week’s featured project highlights a kitchen remodel designed by Rick Grandy from the Cabinet Discounters showroom in Chantilly, VA. The space combines a clean layout with warm details that help the kitchen feel bright and comfortable without losing functionality. Brighton Cabinetry was used throughout the project with the Rodera door style in Maple Tranquil and Custom with glaze, creating a soft contrast between the perimeter cabinetry and the island.
The large island serves as the center of the kitchen and provides additional seating, storage, and prep space. The custom painted finish on the island gives the room a subtle focal point while still tying in with the surrounding cabinetry. Vicostone Misterio Gold quartz countertops were selected for both the island and perimeter surfaces, bringing a consistent look throughout the room with light, gold veining that complements the cabinet finishes and flooring.
Along the cooking wall, the cabinetry extends almost to the ceiling to maximize storage and create a more finished appearance. A stainless hood adds contrast against the lighter cabinetry, while the decorative tile detail behind the cooktop introduces a small accent without overpowering the space. Under-cabinet lighting and glass-front cabinetry in the corner help keep the kitchen feeling open and balanced.
The sink wall opens directly into the adjacent living area, allowing the kitchen to stay connected to the rest of the home. The large pass-through and surrounding natural light help brighten the entire space, while details like the hardware, simple backsplash tile, and chandelier lighting give the kitchen an elegant look.
This remodel is a good example of how thoughtful storage, layered finishes, and a balanced color palette can update a traditional kitchen while still keeping it functional for everyday use.
