Have you recently moved into a new home knowing that you want to remodel the kitchen? Maybe the location of your home is perfect, the space has potential, but the kitchen is just in need of some updating. If you can relate to this, then you are not alone. A local customer was in a similar spot and was ready to begin her kitchen remodel journey.
“I bought this home in 2022, in part because of the potential the kitchen had to become my dream kitchen. Shortly after moving and settling in, I set a savings goal for a kitchen remodel with and I hit that goal in early 2025, so it was time!”
Looking for a company to work with that could be her “one-stop shop,” the customer decided to work with Cabinet Discounters, not just because we could offer all aspects of the remodel, but also because we could accommodate her hope of custom colored blue cabinets.
“I knew my remodel was going to be a big project, so I wanted to work with a company that did everything – project management, design, coordinating with the county for inspections, organizing all the trades, etc. Cabinet Discounters provided all of that, but two things really gave Cabinet Discounters the edge and sealed the deal for me. First was that Cabinet Discounters had the ability to do custom colors for the cabinetry – I wanted blue cabinets, but most manufacturers had either darker navy blue or a lighter pastel blue and I was specifically looking for something that was brighter and richer, which I realized had to be a custom paint color. Out of all the companies I considered, Cabinet Discounters was the only one that had options for custom colors.”
The customer visited our Springfield, VA showroom to get started, and once she was inside our store, realized that another reason she wanted to work with us was our designer, Katie Kieler.
“Second was Katie – she was absolutely phenomenal. In our first meeting, she walked me through every step of Cabinet Discounters’ process, she had thoughtful questions about the inspiration photos I had shared with her, and she easily understood the vision I had for the remodel and could transform it from a bunch of ideas into a real concept.”
In addition to her experience working with Katie, the customer was also very pleased with the work done with everyone else involved with her project.
“Everyone was great. No question was ever too small or simple for them – I appreciated how available everyone was to answer my questions and explain what they were doing or waiting on every step of the way. The delivery teams worked with my schedule to make sure that I could be home to receive the deliveries. The trades and installers were all experts so I never felt like I needed to very hands on or to check their work. We had a couple of hiccups along the way (all of them related to how long it took the county to schedule and complete the inspections) but everyone kept checking in and keeping me up-to-date with the delays and reschedules.”
Working along with Katie, the customer selected Brighton Cabinetry with Amesbury door style in a custom blue color on Maple. The countertops are Vicostone Crystal Ice quartz. The backsplash is Ape Memories diamond 4″ x 6″ ceramic tile.
“I am so happy with the outcome! It’s better than I expected or even thought would be possible. I went into the remodel with a pretty clear vision for what I wanted, and a little nervous about the process and time it would take to get there in the end because it was my first time doing an extensive remodel project, but everything came together nicely. I liked being able to see the progress day by day and know that everyone was committed to the work.”
With all of her new storage and countertop space, the customer has found that food prep and cooking is easier than ever.
“All of the storage has been a massive plus. My “before” kitchen was on the smaller side with not a lot of prep space and the storage wasn’t very functional so it always felt cramped when I was trying to prepare a bigger meal or bake. Having all the extra cabinetry from wall to wall, floor to ceiling has allowed me to implement organized and dedicated zones for all my kitchenwares and baking supplies, so cooking now is calmer and I find it easier to focus. But probably the biggest surprise in how the new kitchen has made things easier is that with more storage and more countertop/prep space, it’s actually much easier to meal prep and cook meals in bulk, which has been super exciting because now I can have better, healthier meals throughout the week, which is one less thing to worry about during a busy, fast-paced work week!”
