Have you been struggling in your old, cramped, and outdated kitchen? Does your current space not provide you with enough room to adequately use the space? Is your kitchen older than you are? If you can relate to any of these issues, it is probably time to remodel your kitchen. A local family experienced similar issues in their home, and they knew that something had to be done to change that.
“We decided to remodel the kitchen because it was very dated with cabinets that were the originals from 1950’s, everything was painted blue (the drenched look), the blue paint was peeling off the walls, I wanted a dishwasher, and more more cabinet space.”
Using the advice of their general contractor, the family decided to visit the Cabinet Discounters showroom in Mt. Airy, MD.
“We chose Cabinet Discounters because our contractor wanted us to.”
Once inside our showroom, the family met with designer Wendy Ames. They were able to tell Wendy their ideas for a new kitchen, and Wendy came up with the vision for their space. Her design experience and knowledge led to a beautiful recreation of their space, giving them plenty of storage and countertop area, as well as a location for their much-desired dishwasher.
“My working experience with Wendy at Cabinet Discounters was great. She has great taste in design and styles, and I think she must have gathered from my old kitchen what my design preferences would be. She was very helpful with design ideas and sources of additional design ideas, such as wallpaper, cabinet inserts for organization, heat element for under our eating counter. She did a few different drawings for me to help me come up with the best one for our needs. It was a pleasure working with her. The delivery of the cabinets was right on and time, because the manager runs a tight ship!”
Working along with Wendy, the family selected Homecrest Cabinetry with Sedona Painted Hardwood doors in Sailboat Opaque. The countertops are Vicostone Polaris quartz.
“I am very happy with the outcome. The cabinet color I picked is beautiful especially against the knotty pine corner cabinets and paneling from the 50’s. I like the way the color changes slightly with natural lighting vs. electric lights. I love my recessed lighting and how much it lights up what used to be a sort of dark room.”
The family is now extremely pleased with the ability to have a dishwasher in their kitchen, and not have to wash everything by hand. They also are very happy with the look and ease of cleaning of both their countertop and their backsplash tile. Additionally, they love having the lower countertop in front of the window where they can enjoy a cup of coffee to start the day.
“It’s a blessing to have a dishwasher. With two of us here we still wash some dishes by hand, but I’m glad to have it, and it’s a good selling feature for when we downsize. I enjoy the quartz countertops, backsplash, and how easy they are to maintain. Our contractor suggested and installed lighting under the cabinets too and when they are turned on in the evening without the ceiling lights, the backsplash takes on a glow that’s lovely. I like our café counter very much.”
