Kitchen Remodel with White Perimeter Cabinets and Blue Island

This week’s featured project from Cabinet Discounters highlights a kitchen remodel designed through our Annapolis, MD showroom by Mary Carrette. The goal of this space was to create a kitchen that feels more open, works better for daily use, and connects naturally with the surrounding living and dining areas. The finished design keeps the layout simple and functional while adding more storage, better prep space, and a stronger visual focal point.

The cabinetry in this kitchen is Mantra Cabinetry with the Omni door style. The perimeter cabinets are finished in Snow, while the island is done in Admiral, giving the room some contrast without making it feel too busy. That two-tone combination works especially well here because the rest of the space stays clean and consistent, allowing the island to stand out as the center of the room. The dark island also ties in well with the black cabinet hardware and stainless appliances.

One of the main features of this kitchen is the large island. It adds a substantial amount of workspace and storage, while also creating seating for several people along one side. The island helps define the kitchen within the open-concept layout and gives the homeowners a place for casual meals, conversation, and everyday use. The built-in microwave also helps keep the perimeter counters more open and usable.

The perimeter layout is arranged for efficiency, with the sink centered below a wide window and the range placed between tall upper cabinets and a stainless hood. This gives the main work zone a balanced look while keeping key tasks close together. The window over the sink brings in natural light, and the full backsplash helps tie the different parts of the room together.

Vicostone Verdelia quartz was used for the countertops throughout the kitchen, including the island. The surface gives the room a light and consistent look, which works well with both the Snow perimeter cabinets and the Admiral island. The softly patterned quartz also pairs nicely with the light backsplash tile and warm wood flooring, helping the space feel cohesive.

This project is a good example of how thoughtful material selections and a well-planned layout can improve both the look and function of a kitchen. The result is a kitchen that offers ample storage, comfortable seating, and a clean, updated design that fits well with the rest of the home.
