Kitchen Remodel Featured Project

"Modernizing The Kitchen Has Added Value To The House"

Are you frustrated with the look and flow of your kitchen? Maybe it’s outdated, things are falling apart, or you’re finding that it’s simply no longer functional. If you can relate to any of those aspects, then a kitchen remodel may be in your near future. A local family was in a similar position, and knew that something had to be done.

“I was interested in remodeling primarily to update the look and functionality of the kitchen.”

The family decided to visit the Cabinet Discounters showroom in Columbia to begin their project. They were intrigued by the idea that our designer would be there to help all throughout the selection process. They also liked our online portal in which they could communicate with anyone involved with their project.

“The way Cabinet Discounter manages their projects had a lot of appeal, especially the fact that a designer would work with me to develop a design and select all the new elements such as cabinets, countertops, and flooring. Having one contact for all the the work made planning and installation straightforward. The online system was useful for viewing the entire project schedule and communicating with everyone working on my project.”

Once inside our showroom, the customer met with designer Ann McDaniels. Ann was able to come up with a plan that worked in the kitchen, and suggest ideas to make the kitchen more modern and flow more easily. In addition to working with Ann, the customer was also quite pleased with her interactions with our installation department.

“Ann was fantastic to work with as a designer, and understood my style and objectives. She pulled everything together – major updates such as cabinets and countertops, and also decorative tile, hardware, and lighting.  Everyone in the install department was cheerful, helpful, and easy to reach. Thanks go to Miranda, Melissa, and George for answering all my questions and solving problems.”

Working along with Ann, the family selected Brighton Cabinetry with Glendale Raised door style. The lighter cabinetry is Maple Oatmeal finish, and the darker cabinets are Hickory Coal. The perimeter countertops are Viatera Aria quartz, and the island has a Grothouse butcher block top.

“I was very happy with the project outcome. The kitchen is beautiful and easy to navigate for cooking and entertaining. The black and white color scheme for the cabinets and natural butcher block top for the island is striking. I am enjoying the improved lighting. Everything was delivered on schedule and Cabinet Discounters was very accommodating when I needed to make adjustments to the dates.”

With their new kitchen completed, the family has now found that life has become significantly easier in their new space.

“Cooking with the expanded counter and island space is easier and more efficient. Having the  extra cabinet space, pull-out shelves and large drawers gives me quick access to pans and dishes. I am particularly enjoying the special cabinet next to the cooktop for storing kitchen utensils and cooking oil. The updated lighting and extra electrical outlets are also definite improvements. Overall, I believe modernizing the kitchen has added value to the house, and will be a plus for future resale.”
