“For the last few years, we have looked at how to modernize the kitchen based on the evolution of our tastes and how kitchen technology has changed. Since our original kitchen was designed by Jim Polzin at Cabinet Discounters for our house model, we had asked him about installing a farm sink, new counter and soft close doors and drawers over time. Since we have now been in the house 15 years and had no appliance failures, we felt it was time to replace all of these as well.” – customer
Originally, the family looked around at some other spots for their kitchen remodel, but in the end they came back to Cabinet Discounters and our Columbia showroom.
“Initially we approached a different kitchen remodeler who came to our home, made various measurements and designed a basic plan that involved considerable tear out. We felt the design was sterile and that the design ignored various physical constraints that added unnecessary relocations for want of a few inches here and there (electrical, piping, walls). That experience had us go back to the initial drawings done for our house when built by Jim Polzin. We loved the general layout, but wanted to brighten the kitchen (add more lighting and lighter cabinets) as well as modernize. We visited Jim and Cabinet Discounters and right away he was totally familiar with the kitchen design, its constraints, possible solutions and great suggestions. Working along with Jim, the family selected Brighton Cabinetry for their kitchen with Craftsman doors and Natural Cherry color. The countertops are Colonial Gold granite.
