“We purchased our 6 acre farmette ‘as is.’ The kitchen – and the rest of the house – was still very early 1980s and the kitchen was badly in need of a makeover. Plus – I wanted the space to reflect a warm ‘farmhouse’ aesthetic and tweak it to accommodate casual impromptu gatherings – which we tend to have a lot.”

“Doreen was absolutely amazing. She came to measure everything and talked to me at length about what I was trying to achieve. She truly understands kitchen functionality and was incredibly helpful in ensuring that the space was highly usable as well as aesthetically pleasing. She made a few design suggestions that I was unsure of but ultimately chose to pursue – like taking out a column on one of the walls and turning the eat-in space into a banquette. I’m glad I took her advice. It was totally the right decision!”
In addition to their experience with Doreen, the family found their interactions with everyone else went very smoothly as well. They were also happy with the delivery of cabinetry and advanced knowledge of when things would be delivered or installed.
Working along with Doreen, the family selected Brighton Cabinetry with Hillsbrad door style and Maple Dover color. The new kitchen is truly able to capture the farmhouse atmosphere for which the customers had been searching.

“The new kitchen is the primary gathering place in the house. From the new eat at peninsula to the banquette to the coffee bar area — it’s definitely the place to be. Everything in my kitchen has a logical place to live now – which makes keeping it tidy so much easier. Plus, it’s just so warm and fun I just like spending time in it — with my friends gathered around the peninsula having coffee or a beer!”
In the end, despite the sometimes daunting task of undergoing a kitchen remodel, the family could not be happier with how everything turned out – thanks in large part to Doreen.
