Do you feel like the space in your kitchen is badly wasted? Maybe you have walls with no cabinetry that you’ve had to supplement with another piece of furniture, or maybe your kitchen has expanded into other parts of your home? If this is something you can relate to, then don’t worry, you are not alone! A local customer was facing a similar issue in his kitchen, and he was ready to make a change.
“There were several reasons for me remodeling. The biggest was the my original kitchen was wasteful in terms of how the space was used resulting in very limited counter space and cabinet space. Two of the walls had no cabinets or counter space. The cabinets that were there did not go all the way up to the ceiling (there were soffits). Secondly, I wanted to open up space between the kitchen and the adjoining family room. Another more minor reason was that I wanted a fresher look and I wanted cabinet features such as slide-outs, soft close hinges, etc.”
The customer was grateful to have received the recommendation of a friend to work with Cabinet Discounters. So acting on that advice, the customer stopped by our Springfield showroom and met with designer Tessa Kolmus.
“The biggest reason was that I had friends who used Cabinet Discounters several years ago and they were very happy with the results. She designed their own kitchen using Cabinet Discounters after having shopped around a lot beforehand. And, she was particularly happy with Tessa with whom she dealt. She really liked the experience, particularly never feeling pressured by Tessa. She had had lots of bad experiences before finally finding Cabinet Discounters. I was very glad to have learned from my friend and chose Cabinet Discounters right away. Also of course, the price was a big factor. I was very glad to find that Tessa was still there.”
Tessa was able to come up with a plan to work within the space, and the customer was delighted by his experience with her. Additionally, he also had positive interactions with everyone else on our team who was involved in his project.
“Tessa was indeed a joy to work with. I never felt pressured. She was clearly very experienced, knowledgeable, and was always very responsive. Although my experiences with the other folks was limited, of course, I was very happy with them as well.”
Working along with Tessa, the customer selected Brighton Cabinetry with Cascade door style and Maple Slate finish. The countertops are Cambria Charston quartz.
“I love the results! I’m really glad with the choices I made. It was a long, sometimes arduous process, but totally worth it! Obviously, I’ve been cooking and I have done some entertaining. People and friends are amazed by the difference and love the results too.”
In addition to his work with Tessa, the customer felt that his friend who originally recommended Cabinet Discounters to him was also a great help when it came to designing his new space.
“I had a lot of design help from my very good friend. There are lots of decisions beyond the cabinets and countertops, of course . She was very helpful with the design process, the myriad of options, helping me understand how design decisions relate to one other, and helping me evolve the final design.”
At the end of the project, the customer can’t believe how much easier day-to-day life is in his new kitchen. There’s now plenty of space for storage, seating, and cooking.
“The biggest thing that is easier now is that I have far more storage space. I had been using shelves on the wall going down to the basement as my pantry. I no longer have to do that. I actually have more space than I need, for the moment at least. Secondly, I have ample countertop space including a space for seating at the countertop. This has made cooking a lot easier.”
