When it comes time to remodel the kitchen in your home, it’s important that everything gets done right. From making your kitchen more functional to increasing your storage space and options, everything adds up to create your perfect kitchen. That’s what happened for the Wernick family who wanted to change the kitchen space in their home.
“We decided to remodel because after purchasing our ‘forever home’ four years ago and living in a kitchen that was good but not great, I finally knew exactly what I needed to be more efficient in the kitchen. I knew where I wanted everything! I knew how I could design a kitchen that would make my family life easier. And lucky for me, I also worked with an architect that helped me design a space that was absolutely beautiful as well as functional. I spend 90% of my waking time at home in that kitchen so it is really “my” space.” – Mrs. Wernick
Acting on the recommendation of their general contractor, the Wernicks visited the Cabinet Discounters Gaithersburg showroom and worked with designer Hans Englehart on this very detailed project.
“We chose Cabinet Discounters because our builder, Todd Tomlinson, recommended them. He had confidence in them for some of our trickier projects in the kitchen (i.e. – the appliance pantry) and had had wonderful experiences with them in the past. We trusted Todd so we trusted Cabinet Discounters. Hans was our go-to person at Cabinet Discounters. He was knowledgeable and really took pride in his work. He was very excited about the project and worked hard to make sure we got everything just right.” – Mrs. Wernick
Working with Hans, the Wernicks selected Brighton Cabinetry for their kitchen. The perimeter cabinets are maple with Meadowview doors and a custom finish, while the island features maple cabinets with Meadowview doors and a dark Maple Zinc finish. The countertops throughout the kitchen are Calacatta Nuvo Honed quartz from Caesarstone. The big feature piece in this kitchen is the large, custom-built appliance pantry, which has accordion doors which open to reveal a massive storage space. Storage space was also beneath the bench seating in the corner of the kitchen, and custom display space was added above the doors out to the deck.
“We are SO happy with the outcome. Everything works perfectly. The cabinets are beautiful and functional and so high quality. We get so many compliments on the custom color as well as the quartz, which we got through Cabinet Discounters. Our island is a contrasting color and our guests always comment about how well it coordinates and how high quality it all is. We are just thrilled!” – Mrs. Wernick
The large kitchen space also has a window that will open up outside to the family’s back deck area, to allow for large gatherings and entertaining during the summer months. It allows easy access to food, drinks and the sink area inside the kitchen. The quartz countertop continues to the outdoor area as well.
“We plan to use our new space to feed our family of 5 (3 young and growing boys), entertain, and relax. I cook up a storm and host everything from simple weeknight meals to huge family and holiday gatherings. And even when I am just alone in my kitchen, it is my favorite place in the house to sip a cup of coffee and read a book or article. It is so peaceful and elegant. I just love it.” – Mrs. Wernick
