Staying at home over the the last few years due to the pandemic has caused many issues within our homes to be magnified. If your kitchen has any deficiencies, they became more and more noticeable with every day we stayed at home. Anything from failing appliances, paint chipping off cabinets, or just simply a kitchen that is too old can be a source of frustration. A local family was experiencing all of these faults in their kitchen, and they knew they needed to do something about it.
“We had been thinking about remodeling our kitchen for quite some time, but when the pandemic forced us to spend more time in our kitchen we realized that it was time for an upgrade. We were living with the original kitchen that was close to 30 years old: the faucet was leaky, the finish was wearing off the cabinets, there were scratches on the counter, and the floor was very worn. Instead of trying to do little fixes, we decided to investigate a remodeling project, and we are so glad we did!”
Using the suggestion of a neighbor who had worked with us, the family decided to visit the Cabinet Discounters showroom in Columbia to begin their project.
“Our neighbors had used Cabinet Discounters, and when I asked about their work the neighbors revealed that they had used Cabinet Discounters at their previous home, too. Because they had been so happy with the work, they went right back to Cabinet Discounters without even considering other alternatives. Their positive experience was a large influence on our choice to use Cabinet Discounters.”
Once inside our store, the family met with designer Rebecca Blackburn Litton to start their remodel process. Rebecca was able to come up with a great plan that worked both within their space and within their budget.
“Every person involved in our project was fantastic to work with. Rebecca was great as a designer. She listened to our needs and wants and took her time with us to create something perfect for our budget and our needs.”
In addition to their experience with Rebecca, the family also had great interactions with everyone else involved with their kitchen remodel.
“All of the workers (carpenter, electrician, plumber, flooring and countertop installers, delivery personnel) were extremely professional and courteous. They stayed on schedule and kept us informed of anything we needed to be made aware of along the way. Everyone on the project also communicated with each other so information was passed seamlessly from team member to team member. It was an absolutely painless process for us.”
Working along with Rebecca, the customers selected Century Cabinetry with Clearbrook door style and White color. The countertops are LX Viatera Everest quartz.
“We are so thrilled with the outcome! Our kitchen is beautiful, clean, and very modern looking. Someone who saw it recently said it looked like something from HGTV! We love having the microwave above the oven to free up counter space, and the coffee bar that was created is just perfect! The undercabinet lights are not only functional for extra lighting but they also give our kitchen a beautiful look. I keep using the word beautiful to describe our new kitchen – it makes me happy to just sit and look at it!”
The new space has made cooking and spending time in the kitchen much more pleasurable. The family has also been very happy with the expanded countertop space.
“We have done lots of cooking and baking in our new kitchen. A tiny change in the layout gave us more counter space that has allowed for an easier time with larger cooking projects. We couldn’t be happier with the outcome and will definitely return to Cabinet Discounters for our next project!”
