“When we bought the house 6 years ago we knew we would need to address the kitchen – all of the appliances were older and the layout didn’t make a lot of sense. About a year before renovation we noticed some of the upper cabinets were pulling away from the wall, and knew it was time to get the ball rolling. There was a lot of dead space and we were able to figure out some adjustments that would allow us to expand the kitchen for more counter space and cabinets, and this got us really excited about moving forward.”
After receiving a recommendation to visit Cabinet Discounters for their project, the family visited our Annapolis showroom. Once inside, they met with designer Meg O’Neill and they instantly felt comfortable getting started on their kitchen remodel.
“We were recommended to Cabinet Discounters and Meg, and they were the only place we looked. We felt after visiting the showroom that we would be able to find the right aesthetic for our space in the offering we saw there.”
The family was extremely pleased with their experience working with Meg. She was able to listen to their wants, take their own design ideas into consideration, and suggest other concepts that may work well.
“Meg was great. I work in Interior Design but on the commercial side so I do not have kitchen experience. I did design our kitchen and was stressing over every detail. I gave Meg my layout and she handled the fit and placement of the various cabinets, making sure all needs were covered without me having to “stress” about those details. I could tell she had a lot of experience thinking about how a kitchen should function and where different elements should be placed. She was quick to provide edits as we made the final tweaks as well.”
Despite a delay from their own contractor, the customers were also very happy upon the arrival of their cabinetry.
“The delivery team was very friendly. Our contractor ran very far behind schedule and forgot to reschedule the cabinet delivery, so they arrived at a time when we could not accept them. This didn’t seem to be an issue for the team. I was concerned about our cabinets being double/triple handled when they eventually arrived but all pieces arrived in perfect condition.”
Working along with Meg, the customers selected Brighton Cabinetry with Madrid door style and New Carmel finish on Hickory. The countertops are Pure White quartz from Caesarstone.
“Our kitchen came out exactly how I envisioned, and I couldn’t be happier with how all the details came together. The cabinets especially are a huge step up from the builder grade 1980’s cabinets that we had, we are able to store so much more than we previously were. I wanted cabinets that showcased the woodgrain, and we were blown away by how beautifully these came out. I was concerned since the current trend is painted cabinets that we may struggle to find the right woodgrain/finish, but they came out perfectly.”
The new space provides the family with plenty of room for storage, gathering, and just simply enjoying their new kitchen.
“I love to cook and entertain; we expanded the kitchen and have now twice as much counter space, so cooking is not frustrating like before. So many of our serving dishes had been stored away in the basement but with the new cabinets we have the space to keep everything in the kitchen. It has really changed the way we are able to utilize the space, made it way more functional. We also added the peninsula with seating which has been a great place to gather when it doesn’t make sense to use the dining room.”
